Fort Wayne OSTEOARTHRITIS SUFFERERS AND THEIR PAIN

Fort Wayne knee osteoarthritis is common. There are many Fort Wayne knee pain sufferers. They’re not alone! 240 million people around the globe endure osteoarthritis. That affects about 10% of men and 18% of women. (1) Any Fort Wayne knee osteoarthritis sufferer recognizes the knee pain, the morning stiffness, and the creaky joint motion that reduces the quality of daily life. (1) It’s just not very fun. Now a Mediterranean diet could be some fun though!

WHAT TO EAT ON A MEDITERRANEAN DIET

The Mediterranean diet includes eating lots of fruits and vegetable, legumes and nuts, cereals and seeds, seafood and fish. Eating a Mediterranean diet can be quite delicious as well as adventurous for a new Mediterranean diet adherent.

BENEFITS OF THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET

Knee osteoarthritis entails inflammation in addition to pain. An analysis of three studies highlights that biomarkers of inflammation and cartilage degradation due to osteoarthritis fell in the Mediterranean diet group. (1) Particularly, the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1α decreased in the Mediterranean diet group. (2) Knee osteoarthritis patients who stuck to a Mediterranean diet show a lowered risk of deteriorating knee pain at 4 years follow up.
